Although Bonnie Anderson has ukulele, choir, recorder and drumming groups, the most popular are her marimba groups. She has two 4th grade groups, two 5th grade groups and 2 middle school groups. These groups rehearse during the school day, once a week for 50 minutes. The top 5th grade group is pictured. They are an Invited Elementary Ensemble for the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) convention this February, 2018.
The Mojo-rimba Marimba Group is the younger performing middle school Group. They rehearse for 1 and ½ hours, once a week in the evening. They have also been invited to play at Carnegie Hall.
OKOAP (One Kid On A Part) is the oldest middle school marimba group, and most of the students have been playing together for 5 years. They rehearse for 1 and ½ hours, once a week in the evening. They have been invited to play at Carnegie Hall.
They were also invited to play at the 4th Annual Brownsville Marimba Festival at the TSC Arts Center in the Spring of 2017. The group enjoys playing as well as having fun at the beach in their off time while visiting the Brownsville area.
